TONIGHT! SAMIYAM & MONO/POLY

A few things to note:

You can’t smoke inside the Showbox.
Curren$y is not going to be your best friend cause you brought him a ounce of that loud.
Blunted beats sound better at higher elevations.
Skip the smokers club, climb party mountain and hit the Electric Tea Garden tonight.

Why would you want to miss out on everyone’s favorite rapping stoner of the moment? Maybe you’ve seen him before? Maybe you don’t want to pay the hefty ticket fees? Maybe you just want to try something new? If you know me I love Spitta, peep the last post for evidence, but really you should probably reconsider going tonight if you love bass and beats.

Samiyam and Mono/Poly are in town and with them performing at the Tea Garden is fellow Brainfeeder Ryat, as well as Bicoastal rep Mast and local Dropping Gems head DJ AO. The later names could be anyone’s or no one’s, I’m unconcerned. If I get there early enough and hear them tear shit up awesome, but really this bill is all about the two headliners for me.

Mono/Poly recently let go of a five track distorted and deep mess. He called it Killer B’s and the name could work in a variety of ways. These very well could be productions brought back in time from an aged RZA. Ghost, Rae and Meth could deliver some life threatening darts about drugs and gangstas over these synthesized earthquakes. Deck too. He could have been thinking more literally that you might just break your fucking neck when jamming to these.

The tracks hint at many influences and really can pick your spirit up. I’ve heard little else by the man, but I have heard his live show is something else. If these beats are any indication, and he can deliver a performance as wild and heavy as his throw away tracks are it’s going to be a fun set.

Then of course there is Samiyam. If you didn’t hear last years Sam Baker’s Album all I can say is get to it! Shit knocks in a simple an easy way. His beats are dusty and hazy. You will want to be in a cloud while you float around to this stuff. And if you have friends who rhyme, don’t let ‘em hear this cause then we will be flooded with emcees tarnishing these tunes – they don’t need nothing else.

So yeah, escape from your cave tonight – I am – and go enjoy some new sounds at the Electric Tea Garden!
