Late Nights in the Cloud: Warminal Records

After getting an email about a new Twitter follower, I decided it was worth investigating who this new follower was. All they listed for an internet presence was their soundcloud page which it proves is all you need these days.

Based in Germany, they claim to be a “small net label.” Judging from the math in the track names they are on release number three, which comes from Σ​-​Fly. The tunes would most likely be categorized within the “post dubstep” lineage we are seeing becoming vastly popular. My only issue I take with this descriptor is that most of the music seems to be riff’s on Burials ideas which were the introduction of dubstep for me. Regardless of classifications the music is smooth, melodic and hypnotic.

Elsewhere they tred a more minmal line with this tune from Essay, which appears to be their first. Perhaps it’s the hour, city lights and my room’s haze but I feel like I could let this play all night long. As the drums pick up and the piano keys get sprinkled in I’m hooked, you will be too.
